When
the Delhi Golf and Country Club first opened in the early 60's it had a
fairly straight ahead nine hole layout. Many upgrades over the years, including
an expansion to 18 holes in the early 90's, have had a dramatic impact
on the level of challenge the course can offer, and today can test golfers
of all skill levels. With 6,334 yards from the championship tees, Delhi
has sufficient length to keep the long ball hitter happy, but the forward
tees allow the course to be played as short as 5,019 yards, making the
course equally ideal for the novice or high handicapper.
Delhi is known for always keeping its medium sized greens in good shape, even though they are considered fast by most standards.
The
signature hole of the course is the 15th, a 341 yard dogleg left that requires
a tee shot of at least 180 yards to clear a large, marshy area immediately
off the tee. From there your second shot is a tricky carry over a creek
to a small green protected by a bunker to the left side.
Another scenic hole is the par three 7th. At a mere 99 yards this hole features a green almost completely surrounded by water and is a favorite of the golfers at Delhi.
